Finally, I can scratch performing at a juggling festival off my life list. Although technically I didn’Äôt juggle, I did MC the Public Show/Renegade. Photos on this web-site:
If this had been a room full of, lets say teachers, there is little chance I would have gotten anywhere near that microphone. The performing professional jugglers were strangely reticent. Yes, jugglers are funny.
No less than five of the acts came up to me during the performance to tell me they didn’Äôt have any music and ask me to pick out a song for them from my ipod. ¬ÝBecause I didn’Äôt have headphones with me I wasn’Äôt always sure what I was picking out. Apologies to Ronald the contact juggler for the girlie music. It was only a little gay, Ronald. Subsequently, I didn’Äôt actually see much of the performances. One performer got frustrated and threw his porps at me after missing a trick for like the 32nd time. I started watching very closely. ¬ÝOlga Galchenko demonstrated the meaning of professionalism, and she played the piano. I didn’Äôt even realise little Max Kalvin had been on stage until i saw the photos this morning. That kid is cute!
The festival itself was successful. We had a good turn out, people had fun, people learned to juggle. And we raised money for a good cause. (Which means we didn’Äôt loose money, which could have been an option.)
